By inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the apostle Peter writes his first epistle to those concerned about living their Chritian faith in a sometimes unreceptive and even hostile environment. He focuses on: What God has done to save us through Christ Jesus, an appropriate lifestyle for those who belong to Christ; the comfort and power God gives through the means of grace; priorities for those who know the Lord is coming soon. Peter's words of hope are just as timely today as they were for the believers of the first century who first received them.
