Since its 17th century appearance, Matthew Poole's commentary has been widely used for clear, concise teaching on Scripture. Though backed by serious scholarship, the commentary is written to be accessible to a wide range of readers. Where biblical material is clear, Poole devotes little time, but on difficult verse, Poole gives full attention, often pointing out various views and listing the reasons for his own convictions. He is particularly skilled in bringing out the meaning and relevance of obscure passages in the Old Testament. This volume contains Poole's comments on Genesis-Job. Poole's concern to explain the meaning of the text makes this volume an excellent guide through these Old Testament books.
