The Church is in a season of profound change. The birth pangs of transition are changing the order of 'what is' into a Church that can do the will of God in the midst of a difficult environment. By nature, labor produces a violent change from the old to the new, and it has left some churches broken and bewildered. To prevent this, we must discern between the work of the enemy and the work of the Holy Spirit. Leaders must understand and utilize all that God has given them in this time of change.
In essence, this transition forms the rite of passage from one dimension of the Spirit to another, and Cooke offers vital information on how to be the midwives of God bringing this transition and transformation about. By looking at the fivefold gifts of Ephesians, and focusing on apostles and prophets, Cooke offers a hopeful look at what he calls the birthing of a new church, ready to face the challenges of each new day.
