Business finally seems to be looking up for Horsefeathers Stable, but a meeting with the bank manager has Scoop worried. The farm needs to be assessed for property taxes and her payments may have to increase substantially. As she worries about the future of Horsefeathers, she has an unexpected encounter with Benson Thayer and his problem Appaloosa gelding named Diablo. Ben askes Scoop to help him with Diablo, and mentions that his mother is the host of a popular TV show. Soon he and Scoop's friend Maggie have the whole thing arranged. Scoop will 'fix' Diablo, and be on TV with him, but can she have him ready in time? And what's happening to her friendship with Maggie? Recommended for ages 12 to 16.
