Single adults - the fastest growing household type in America - are leaving the church in droves because they haven't found a place to belong. This unfortunate fact is equally obvious to an overwhelming majority of surveyed pastors who consistently rate their church's ministry to singles as poor, or fair at best. For years, the church has worked hard to formulate ministries for singles and, without intending to, has substituted programs for relationships. As a result, singles often feel like the 'odd ones out' in the family of God and the church misses the critical contribution of singles. A Match Made In Heaven suggests that a vital, even symbiotic, relationship exists between the church and singles, and it provides an evenhanded look at how both sides need to rethink what it means to be 'the family of God.'
