As It Was is an interdisciplinary approach to various cultures in history. It takes broad-based concepts and applies them to a particular culture, people, or period of time. Students are provided with opportunities to investigate aspects of past cultures through Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, Math, Art/Music. Includes issues such as the Punic Wars, The Roman Empire, Gladiatorial Combat and Slavery. Some of the people highlighted include: Julius Caesar, Virgil, Nero and Constanine the Great. Places include The Tiber River, The Appian Way, Pompeii, the Catacombs and more. Reproducible student pages for individual teacher use only. Grades 4 to 8.
