The index volume to the Church Dogmatics contains a listing of the entire contents of Barth's magnum opus, including volume and chapter headings as well as the opening statements of each section/paragraph (the bold text of the Dogmatics). Indexes to Scripture references (to both the Old and New Testaments), names, and subjects are also included. Perhaps most helpful are the aids for the preacher, which contain some 800 extracts from all of the volumes of the Dogmatics along with Scripture passages. The aids stand as a testimony to Barth's theology, which as he said, is 'bound to the sphere of the Church, where alone it is possible and meaningful.'
