Roger Williams saw things he didn't like while growing up in England. People were poor and persecuted for their beliefs. He heard things were different in the New World. When Roger moved to the New World, he hoped to find freedom in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. He was disappointed that people treated him the same way they had in England. He had to find a place to live and worship as he chose. Roger couldn't find the freedom he wanted, so he decided to create a new colony. His colony, Rhode Island, accepted all people and beliefs.
