When a mock-disaster explosion, which was meant to test emergency procedures, kills two people, all the evidence of wrongdoing points to shy make-up artist Anna Barker. Hardly the type of person you'd think of as a killer, Anna hopes with all her heart that Sheriff Stu McCabe, the lead detective, will be able to clear her. But Stu has a tormented past of his own, and he isn't inclined to trust anyone - not even sweet, lovable Anna. He's learned the hard way that people are not always what they seem. But when Stu encounters a threat from the real killer, he's forced to believe in Anna and join forces with her to stop the carnage.
