On November 6th of 1984, just moments after the results of President Reagan's election victory were announced, a group of Catholic bishops released the draft of a pastoral letter which refuted the Reagan administration's economic policies. The 136-page document was critical of America's free enterprise system, and argued - from a supposed 'biblical' basis - that there is a need for massive redistribution of wealth in this country.
