Is change good or bad? This depends on one's viewpoint and values. Any given change can be threatening if one's values are wedded to the status quo and views the future only through the lens of the past. Or change can be exciting, if one's viewpoint is geared toward the new possibilities that will arise from this change. By looking at several examples of discontinuous change that have occured, Schaller prepares church leaders to orient themselves to the new challenges and opportunities for ministry which will result from the accelerated transition going on around us.
