Harold Travilla marries Grace Raymond on New Year's Day. The happy couple honeymoons a Viamede, Grandmother Elsie's Louisiana plantation, and the rest of the family travels on the Dolphin to join them. Along the way, Grandmother Elsie and Captain Raymond regale the the children with tales from Southern history, and Cousin Ronald entertains them with stories of his native Scotland. Lucilla and Chester welcome a healthy baby boy to their family, and the Dinsmores and Raymonds make plans to spend the summer as Crag Cottage, Evelyn's beloved home. Recommended for ages 10 to 14. Penned in the mid-nineteenth century, the original Elsie Books were written by Martha Finley as a means to support herself after she suffered a serious injury. Finley wrote twenty-eight Elsie books before her death in 1909.
