The study of the Emancipation Prclamation introduces students to the famous document that was the beginning of the end of slavery in the United States of America. Through a variety of activities, students will learn the history of this document and explore its meaning and impact on the nation. Also included is a study of the Thirteenth, Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments to the Constitution, related to the Emancipation Proclamation. Handouts, discussions and primary source materials are included in this study as well as two poems celebrating Lincoln and his Proclamation, and an editorial cartoon illustrating the view of some Englishmen. As student examine this historical document and how it came to be, they'll begin to understand the impact it had then and on life today. Answer key included Grades 4-8
