The International Critical Commentary is a scholarly and critical treatment of the scriptures. This volume on Esther by Paton begins with an introductory article which discusses the text of Esther as it appeared in the Hebrew, Greek and variouw other languages, the dating of the book and the historical character of the text. The commentary itself is an in-depth analysis which uses linguistic and historical tools to draw out the meaning of the book. A good scholarly text.
