A Scottish novelist and poet, Sir Walter Scott wrote narrative poetry at first, but was overshadowed by Byron. Deriving most of his material from romance, popular ballads, and the gothic novel, he turned to writing to novels. With Waverley, Scott began a long series of works which gave him his reputation of master of the historical novel. Some of his notable works include Guy Mannering, The Antiquary, and The Talisman. Approx. 30 minutes.
