Ruthie Hammond had a dream. After high school graduation she was going to move from her hometown of Brewster, North Dakota to a big city--any city. Chicago, New York, Atlanta--anywhere but Brewster. Surely God had a plan for her, and it wasn't in this small, nowhere town. Twenty years later Ruthie finds herself working with her boyfriend Jack at a failing radio station in, of all places, Brewster. She'd given up on God a long time ago. If she was ever going to get out of town, she'd have to do it on her own. And now was finally the time. But when her first love, Paul Bennett, moves back to Brewster, Ruthie begins to wonder if happiness really does lie beyond the Brewster city limit sign.
