The Hermeneia: A Critical and Historical Commentary on the Bible is a series which is technical and analyzes the book verse by verse. Michael Stone tried to keep a single aim in writing this book, that of elucidating the meaning of 4 Ezra. He only cites those sources which have given him a direct understanding of the text. Stone's 'Introduction: Text and Transmission' enables the reader to have a glimpse into the difficulty of the task of writing this commentary. He has extensive footnotes and bibliography.
