Freddy is everypig - he oversleeps, overeats, daydreams, and writes poetry. He's even a little bit lazy. And when he's scared, his tail uncurls. Not long after Freddy bought a buckskin pony, he turned cowboy, taking riding lessons from the horse. One Mr. Flint, the owner of a dude ranch, is plotting a robbery of the First Animal Bank where the animals keep their valuables. From there on in Freddy and Flint develop a mutual dislike for one another; so much so that Flint lets it be known he will shoot Freddy on sight. With the aid of a brave mouse, Freddy is finally enabled to shoot it out with Flint in the cosmetic department of the Busy Bee in Centerboro. The Freddy books, widely beloved as classics and deemed the American equivalent of the Pooh stories, are a remarkable achievement in children's literature.
