The second half of the twentieth century has been a time of regrouping and rethinking the practice of Christian mission. In particular the global missions movement--the drive to share the gospel with those outside Christianity's traditional 'home' in Europe and the Americas--has received challenge from those who rightfully point out the past complictiy of missions organizations in Western political expansion and colonization. In recent years, postmodern thought has also challenged the very foundation on which global missions are based: the claim that the good news of Jesus Christ is good news for all people at all times.
