What the Church needs today is a strong dose of reverence, or 'gospel fear.' Fear, in Scripture, is usually a synonym for 'awe' or 'reverence.' In this work, now in print for the first time since 1647, Jeremiah Burroughs addresses the importance of having a reverence for God's Word. The Psalmist tells us in Psalm 138:2 that God has 'exalted His Word above His very name.' If Christians are to reverence the name of God, then how great is their obligation to reverence the Word of God?
