The Preamble to the U.S. Constitution introduces students to the reasons the framers wrote the Constitution. Students will also learn about the arguments that shaped this document, which is quite possibly the greatest of its kind. Through time lines, crosswords, and narrative text, students are introduced to the reasons the Constitution was written. Other activities show how those purposes are being fulfilled by government today. Students will also meet the signers through a card game and will learn about which states they came from, what their occupations were, and how they participated in the Constitutional Convention. Reproducible Answer Key included. Grades 4-8.
