How to Work with Time and Money: Grades 1-3 presents a comprehensive overview of time and money on a level appropriate for students in grades 1-3. Time and money are real-life skills that are used every day. When working with time and money, it is important to give children many concrete experiences regarding how time is used and how money is used, counted, and earned. Have children tell you the time or find out the time that a movie starts; have children count back the change they are given; have children pay for small items using the exact amount of money. Through these everyday situations, children will begin to see and experience the importance of time and money and how time and money impact our lives. The more concrete experiences the children encounter, the easier it will be for them to understand the meaning of time and concepts about money.
