These helpful features make the International Standard Bible encyclopedia a convenient, easy to use reference for the Bible student and scholar alike. Alphabetically arranged entries are fully cross referenced to related articles, and this encyclopedia includes articles on the following: every person and place mentioned in the Bible; all the terms in the Bible that have theological or ethical meaning; and the transmission, study, and interpretation of the bible. Each entry provides a maximum amount of information in compact form, including pronunciation, etymology, and variant renderings. The original Hebrew, Aramaic of Greek works are transliterated, aiding those with limited or no knowledge of the original languages of the Bible. Major articles are subdivided, with a helpful outline pro- vided at the beginning of the entry. Bibliographies are provided wherever useful, enabling the reader to continue to research beyond this encyclopedia. Based on the Revised Standard Version, ISBE contains cross-reference entries for forms used in the King James Version and the New English Bible.
