Based on strategies the author uses in her own classroom, this new series teaches students a reliable method for analyzing and solving math word problems. The book covers each of the four operations: Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, and Division. Students learn to identify key words, draw pictures and disregard unnecessary information. Simple problems are illustrated to provide visual reinforcement. Students then move on to more challenging problems: 2- and 3-digit numerals and numbers written in word form. Book 3 follows the pattern of Books 1 and 2, increases the level of difficulty, and includes more work on charts and graphs. It's Elementary is recommended for Grades 2-5.
