Now, for the first time ever, the miracles and teaching of Jesus can be the subject of meditation for the rosary. For centuries, millions have been led to greater love for Jesus and his mother, Mary, through prayerful reflection on the Joyful, Sorrowful, and Glorious Mysteries, based on events drawn from the gospels. However, these meditations focus largely on the birth and death of Jesus, while the years in between, filled with his magnificent words and deeds, have been omitted. On November 23,1973 the United States Bishops issued a pastoral letter, Behold Your Mother, in which they suggested that additional events in the life of Jesus and Mary might be identified as new mysteries of the rosary.
