Barbara Ann was a little maid who lived in Maryland during the time of the colonies' resistance to taxation by the mother country. While on a journey with her brother, she was lost, and blundered into a meeting of American patriots in the woods. She was branded by them as a spy. Through a series of events she defeated the plans of a British officer and helped to carry important information to the general of the American forces.
