Joanne is a beautiful girl from a nice will-to-do family. Ken is from a poor broken home where he is unwanted by his single-parent father. Ken suffers from a severe case of low self-esteem, but he comes to understand his deep love for Joanne. She barely recognizes Ken's existence.
