Rebekka ia a girl who sticks up for herself, hates homework and regularly steals sweets from the corner shop. One day she is surprised to hear that a new boy is joining her class. She is even more surprised when she meets him. Martin is different. He actually speaks to God and takes him very seriously. Martin also takes Rebekka seriously and she likes that. Rebekka helps Martin conquer the school bullies and Martin persuades Rebekka that stealing sweets is not a good idea! Very soon they are firm friends and hang out everywhere together. However Martin has a rare heart and lung disorder and is waiting for what might be his last chance for a transplant. Rebekka is really worried. Will Martin survive a transplant operation? Will a new heart come in time? Rebekka can't bear to think about it at all. This if after all Martin's last chance. But Martin trusts God throughout the whole ordeal and Rebekka sees a side to God that she has never considered before. She discovers a God who cares about people, who is interested in her and who is not in the least bit boring. Recommended for ages 9 to 12.
