Pre-algebra eases the transition from arithmetic to algebra by introducing the concept of the variable early and then emphasizing equation-solving procedures throughout the remaining chapters. It reviews and builds on the arithmetic skills of the traditional mathematics curriculum. Pre-algebra, at the grade 8 level, opens each chapter with a unique math-related character sketch of a Bible personality and concludes with a consumer-related application of math to everyday life. The teacher's edition contains reduced student pages with marginal notes and answers. It includes an optional daily review as well as additional examples to supplement those in the text.
