Book 6 of the Megawords series focuses on 433 words that contain variations in consonant sounds. It teaches alternative sounds for the digraphs ch, (/k/ and /sh/), ph (/f/), and qu (/k/) and the soft sounds of c and g. It also presents the modified long-vowel sounds of r-controlled vowels in VrrV and VrrV patterns. Because Megawords 6 has a higher percentage of four- and five-syllable words than previous books, students may need to use a dictionary more frequently.
