The Mercer Dictionary of the Bible is a new critical dictionary written by over 225 scholars from the National Association of Baptist Professors of Religion, covering a wide range of theological backgrounds. Designed for college classroom use, the dictionary provides complete coverage of Bible themes, and includes articles on non-canonical books that have appeared in recent collections (e.g., Dead Sea Scrolls, Nag Hammadi, Apocrypha, etc.). Further, each map is an original map prepared for the dictionary and the articles for each Bible book contain an original outline on the book. Further, bibliographies are provided for many entries, allowing the reader to pursue more study on the subject of interest. In short, the Mercer Dictionary of the Bible is one of the most comprehensive one-volume critical Bible dictionaries available.
