Nolie (named after her father Nol) is joining her father and his family after growing up with her aunt for eighteen years. Finished with high school and keeping her promise to her father, she is traveling West to visit him and his family. She is eager to learn their 'ways' and not interested in being slowed down by boys. Or is she? Culture shock, religious beliefs, and living with a big family are only a few of the new experiences Nolie faces. It is easy to imagine what life was like back in 1886 as Wanda French doesn't miss a detail. You will come to some new appreciations-learning what our ancestors lived through and how every generation has its modern appliances.
