The Jewish Publication Society Commentaries are modern, scholarly treatments of the Old Testament. This volume on Numbers by Milgrom begins with an introductory section which discusses the literary aspects of Numbers, including Hebrew poetry, and other technical issues surrounding the text. The commentary is very involved giving the Hebrew text as well as the English translation and commentary. A work for scholars or well informed lay people.
