The Word Biblical Commentary is known for its scholarly and critical approach to the scriptures. This volume on Numbers by Philip Budd begins with an introduction which includes articles on authorship, origins and geneologies of tribal leaders in the ancient near east. The structure and setting of the book is also discussed. The commentary itself is section by section, drawing out the linguistic, structural and theological elements where necessary. A good book for any interested scholar.
