Irenaeus was the most important theologian in the second-century church. First discovered in 1904, On the Apostolic Preaching is an apologetic work defending the apostolic office and has been translated from Armenian. It summarizes the essentials of the Christian faith, quoting frequently from the Old Testament, and seeks to prove Jesus was the Messiah.
