In tracing the events of passover week from the time when Jesus wept over Jerusalem to the crucifixion and resurrection, Peter Trumper clearly shows that all that took place had been foreordained by God and stresses its eternal significance, while at the same time portraying with great sensitivity the rebellion of wicked men, the sinful failings of the disciples and the agonies of the man Christ Jesus. Scenes such as the gathering in the upper room, the garden of Gethsemane, the route to Calvary and, above all, the actual crucifixion are vividly described. The author's aim throughout is to draw out the reader's heart in love and adoration to the Saviour who underwent such suffering on behalf of totally undeserving sinners.
