This is the story of a confident man who promoted fake beauty pageants in small California towns. Marjorie Clune was one of his winning victims, 'The Girl with the Lucky Legs,' who was promised a Hollywood movie contract before the scam artist fled with the money. She fled, too, in shame and is willing to try and prove herself to Hollywood. Perry Mason is enlisted to track her down, but when the scam pageant promoter winds up dead, Marjorie is the main suspect.
