Psalms: Two Horizons Old Testament Commentary [THOTC]

The prayer and hymnbook of ancient Israel is a favorite with modern churchgoers. Psalms: The Two Horizons Commentary offers both theological exegesis and theological reflection. This theological commentary is primarily aimed at students and pastors, and therefore features a lengthy introduction which discusses the scholarly views, various criticisms (source, redaction, etc.) related to exegesis, use of the Psalms today, and authorship issues. The commentary continues with section-by-section exegesis of the text using the NIV and gender inclusive language, except where it misrepresents the culture of the text. Theological horizons of the Psalms such as key theological terms, contribution of the Psalter to biblical theology, and the Psalter's relevance to present day theology are then discussed, and a helpful sermon preparation appendix is included.
