Lavrans Nielsen was a Trappist monk for 20 years with the abbey at Gethsemani (1957 - 1976). His artistic creations range through a great variety of media; from oil painting to woodcuts and linoleum blocks; from calligraphy to liturgical abstractions in a multi-layered, three dimensional format. His work displays a keen sensitivity to religion, culture, and art. The present volume makes available a wide range of his beautiful works.
