The Bhagavad-Gita, ostensibly a battlefield discussion between the warrior-hero Arjuna and the Hindu god Krishna, is an instructional text concerning 'yogas', or the dedication of one's industry towards what the Hindu would define as divine - becoming linked to or one with a transcendent reality. This is the desired end result of freeing ones mind to focus on the 'self's' glory. Oddly enough, this has been a source of inspiration for some writers in the Christian sphere, and in that tradition these essays are presented. The tone here is inclusive, not warning of the dangers of opening one's self up to unknown spiritual forces, and addressing seemingly comparative relationships rather than contrasting the two extremely different belief systems.
