'Ten-Minute Activities' for grades 1-3 include 190 activities which are divided into the following: 60 language arts, 60 mathematics, 25 social studies, 25 science, and 20 indoor recess activities. Although these stories do not require teaching a lesson to execute, it is always best to plan ahead just as you would for a lesson in any subject. Many of the activities require no materials; others require no more than paper and pencils. Activities with more materials listed will probably require some advance preparation. Located at the top of each page is a target skill that the activity develops. For example, skills targeted in the language arts activities include beginning and ending letter sounds, critical thinking, and descriptive writing.
