The Church, however, has often ignored or even denied the supernatural creating a void that is not beng filled by other sources. In their profound distrust of the supernatural, and in their insistance on stale rote Phillips warns houses of worship have won a reputation among the young as the dullest places in town so they go out and get their supernatural experiences wherever they can. Phillips also contends that, because of the unique role of the Jewish people according to God's promises special blessings are their divine heritage. Conversely, supernatural expirmentation may be more perilous for Jews than Gentiles.
