Chester Cricket unexpectedly arrives in New York City Times Square subway station via a picnic basket from Connecticut. Soon after his arrival he meets and becomes fast friends with Tucker Mouse and Harry Cat, two residents of the subway station. Chester also becomes a pet for Mario Bellini, a boy whose family runs a newsstand in the subway station. Unfortunately the Bellini's business is not very successful.
