Nearly one million people have participated in The Upper Room's Walk to Emmaus since it began in 1978 as a three-day leadership renewal movement. Bob Wood, the founding international director of the Walk to Emmaus, gives a very personal firsthand account of the beginnings of the movement. Wood recalls people from the Catholic Cursillo movement who helped Emmaus begin, and he shares how Cursillo communities advised Emmaus groups as they deepened their relationship with Christ. In addition to a timeline of significant events in the Emmaus movement, Wood also writes about Chrysalis, the youth Emmaus movement.
