First published in 1965, The Mystery of the Supernatural repersents a refinement and futher development of the core thesis that de Lubac had originally put foward many years earlier in his bold and controversial Surnaturel (1946), in which he first called in to question the idea of 'pure nature'. This book offers precious insight into the core of de Lubac's theoloigal vision- a vision that did much to shape the teaching of Vatican II- and sheds light on crucial issues for the Church's relationship to the world and culture.
