Every kid should have this book somewhere easily accessible in his or her library! It's almost the whole Bible in chronological order, from Adam and Eve and the patriarchs through the kings and the prophets to Jesus and the apostles. In one- to four-page chapters (for breaking the story up into smaller segments as well as for referencing the biblical passages themselves) the people and places of the Bible are given visual representation, with an eye for the details in dress and architecture, and the stories become understandable for even children still learning to read.
The Picture Bible has entertained, informed, and inspired kids of all ages for half a century, first as Sunday bulletin inserts and then in collected form, and the realistic scenes and action sequences by Andre Le Blanc are refreshingly different from much modern comic book content supposedly published for kids. Both a great introductory Bible for kids and a resource to look back on to 'see' what's being presented in the biblical text, this will be a family favorite for years to come.
