The twenty-eight entries in Volume 5 include material presented to many different audiences. The articles include material from Interpretation magazine and the Concise Encyclopedia of Preaching. The interviews are from Leadership magazine and The African American Pulpit. Two sections are devoted to some of Taylor's most memorable lectures, including his addresses delivered at the E.K. Bailey Conference, United Theological Seminary, the Lyman Beecher Lecture Series at Yale University, and the Mullins Lectures at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. These lectures include topics ranging from the black church to preaching responsibilities to building a sermon.
