This volume represents sermons preached By Gardner Taylor on special occasions as well as a selection of his expository sermons delivered from the Concord pulpit. The special-occasion sermons demonstrate Dr. Taylor's literary genius to an extent that cannot be offered to a Sunday morning congregation populated by people of various backgrounds and ages. The occasions at which Dr. Taylor spoke seem to be a thread running through the quilt of American history.
