Eberhand Jungel is widely recognized as one of the most important and original theologians of the twentieth century. However, although many of his essays contain some of his best critical and constructive writing, few have been available in English. These nine essays have been carefully chosen both for their intrinsic interest and as illustrators of the wide range of Jungel's current concerns--the ontological implications of the doctrine of justification; the nature of metapghorical and anthropomorphic language; fundamental themes in theological anthroplogy, Christology, ecclesiology and natural history.
