Many people are intrigued by the secrecy of the lodge. They seem to feel that the fraternal organizations possess secrets that give their members an advantage over those who are outside the order. What's actually behind that lodge door? A group of upright and morally decent citizens, many of them leaders in the community. They joined the lodge because they wanted to belong to some social organization. Some wanted friends. Some of them were looking for prestige. Others, salespersons and those in business, contend that the lodge button on a coat lapel is an advantage. The religion of the lodge, however, is a custom-made religion designed to satisfy any and all people. Tha Masonic Monitor says, 'So broad is the religion of Masonry that the Christian, the Jew and the Mohammedan may and do have a right to hope for salvation.'
